| How do I submit content to the Maine Environmental News website? |
To submit content you must first fill out this form. If you merely send in an email with an announcment or article link, it will not be included.
You will then receive instructions on how you can login to the site and contribute news items or announcements. Our goal is to encourage you to become a regular and trusted contributor of content. |
| What type of content is acceptable? |
The strength of Maine Environmental News over the years has been a clear focus on Maine issues only. There are myriad sites providing information with more of a national or global focus.
Acceptable news items include those from Maine newspapers, radio, or television. Occasionally, articles on Maine environmental issues might appear in national magazines, the New York Times, Boston Globe, etc., and these are acceptable as well.
Announcements may include press releases, event announcements, publication releases, job announcements, etc., from organizations, colleges, and agencies working on environmental issues in Maine. |
| How do I actually go about adding content? |
| After you have completed the 'submit content form' and been approved to add content, you will be assigned a user account that will allow you to log on to the site and add news items or announcements. |
| How do I know if a news item has already been listed? |
You can browse the homepage or the archives for the item. You can also search for it from this page.
|
| Can I still receive the Maine Environmental News daily email? |
Yes and no. There will no longer be a 'digest' daily email of all articles posted on the site. It is being replaced by a newsfeed. The advantage of this system is that you can see an item at the moment it is posted by checking the newsfeed.
To activate the newsfeed, click on the orange 'RSS FEED' button at the bottom of either the News Item or Announcements section.
Some people receive newsfeeds with their email programs, while others prefer them displayed as bookmarks, on a toolbar, etc.
To learn more about newsfeeds or to set one up for News Items or Announcements from Maine Environmental News, see Wikipedia, consult a colleague, or see the online help for your browser or email program. |
