Request LURC hearing on Highland Plantation wind plans
Request LURC hearing on Highland Plantation wind plans
Hello Friends of Forest Ecology Network,

I am writing again to ask that you collect some signatures on the petition
requesting LURC to hold a public hearing on the proposed Highland Mts
Industrial Wind Project. We have just learned that LURC will probably certify
the application complete this week. We will then have a short period of time to
submit our request for a public hearing. Without a public hearing and without
the ability for FEN, The Friends of Highland Mts, The Friends of Bigelow, the
MATC, ATC, and National Park Service and many other organizations to intervene,
this project will slide right through. It will set a precedent which will allow
360 miles of mountaintop industrial wind, potentially 50,000 acres of
clearcuts, thousands of miles of new roads and transmission line to scar and
destroy the natural beauty of our Maine Mountains - while having almost no
impact on carbon emissions. Please, please collect some signatures on the
petition below and send them to FEN in the next two weeks (336 Back Rd,
Lexington Twp., ME 04961). If you have a hard time printing out the petition -
e-mail me at fen@207me.com and I will send you a Word format of the petition.
The Mts. of Maine desperately need your help. Thanks. Jonathan P.S. If you want
to check ou the project go to highlandmts.org
