Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fairs

February 8, 2009
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association (MOFGA), the Maine Council of Churches, Slow Food Portland, and other organizations around the state are preparing for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fairs that will take place at 11 locations around the state. "You don't have to wait for the farmers' market to reopen to buy your favorite local foods," said Melissa White Pillsbury, Organic Marketing Coordinator at MOFGA. "We invite the public to attend CSA Fairs and learn how community supported agriculture works, become acquainted with local seasonal foods, buy a share in a farm's weekly harvest, and discover how to grow a relationship with a Maine farm." Community Supported Fisheries will also be represented in some locations. For locations go to: http://tinyurl.com/9fcsqu. Admission to this event is free for farms and the public. Farmers will bring products from the farm to sell in addition to their CSA shares. Light refreshments featuring local seasonal foods will be served. For more information, contact MOFGA's Organic Marketing Coordinator Melissa White Pillsbury, 207-568-4142, melissa@mofga.org
