Attack on climate change progress
Global warming is the most serious environmental threat facing the planet today. 2000 – 2009 was by far the warmest decade on record and NOAA reports that last month was the warmest January on record.

The EPA is taking steps to limit global warming pollution from cars, large power plants and factories. But Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is introducing a bill that would set back progress and let some of the biggest polluters off the hook.

While Senator Murkowski is pushing her bill, other signals from Capitol Hill suggest that progress is being made to produce a bipartisan climate and energy bill. The Washington Post reported this week that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is urging Senators John Kerry, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham to produce a comprehensive bill.

Despite hundreds of millions of dollars in pressure lobbying, despite vast nationwide propaganda campaigns, and despite a truly despicable parade of dirty tricks, the climate deniers have not won.

Global warming is here, and it will get worse unless we act now. It's time to stop playing politics with our future. We need climate solutions, not obstruction.

Turn back the Murkowski attack on the Clean Air Act and support passage of a strong climate and energy bill this year.
